Question

I have a 1990 chev k1500 with the 4.3 V6. My truck has an intermittent problem that has occurred at all speeds and rpms. It will hesitate or chug. I replaced the fuel filter hoping this might help. In the past, I have experienced this same problem four times over the last seven years and the distributor cap, rotor and some electronic module had to be replaced each time. Any suggestions on what would cause this to be a reoccuring problem would be appreciated. Thank You in Advance for your thoughts.

On your 1990 Chevrolet pickup, many items such as an intermittently shorting out spark plug wire, cracked spark plug, along with the items you mentioned could cause this complaint. Some fundamental tests such as a computer scan, engine scope, and fuel pressure test may specifically identify the problem. Any of these things can be done by a competent repair facility.
