Question I have a friend who has a 1986 Chevy Silverado pickup. It's a V8. He's not sure if it has overdrive or not. Does the Silverado come with overdrive? Please respond asap. Thanks. Bob Fort Worth, TX

Reply Yes, Silverados do come with overdrive. If the drive indicator in the dash has a D with a circle around it next to the N for neutral the vehicle has overdrive. Depending on the gross vehicle weight rating of the vehicle the truck may be equipped with a transmission that is not overdrive. If you are still in doubt, a quick glance by anyone knowledgeable in the repair of automobiles could tell you if this vehicle has the overdrive transmission. Also consult the owner's manual.
