Question

I have a 1977 Toyota Celica GT. My problem is that after I've been driving for a little while my car will periodically buck. When it does my tachometer instantly drops and then returns to its initial location. The car runs fine except when it bucks once in a while (I drove for 3 hours back to school and it did it about 10 times) Thanks!

Possible causes for this periodic bucking could be:
  • If your vehicle is equipped with points and condenser a defective ignition coil or an intermittent open or short somewhere in the primary circuit of the ignition system.
  • If the vehicle is equipped with electronic ignition you may have a defective pickup coil or control module.
