Question

I have a 1983 Buick Regal with 50,000 miles a 3.8 liter v-6 engine. I recently had a problem where when the I started the car and put it into drive the car fully accelerated on its own and I had to drive ito a wall to stop. My mechanic tells me that this was the result ofa broken throtle cable. Is this common with this model engine? I am especially interested since the car only has 50,000 miles on it. I would appreciate hearing from you whether you have or have not heard of such a situation. Thanks, Paul H

This is not common but it is possible that you had a stuck cable, not a broken one.
