Question

I just recently bought a 1985 ford F-150 with a straight six with the 300. The truck has problems all over but the thing I need help with is after the thing has been running for a while and the engine is all warmed up I'll go to shut it off and it don't want to stop running. The only way to shut it off is to put it in gear and let out on the clutch. the clutch when you are going down the road and you let off of it without giving it gas it acts just like your giving it gas. I don't know if this has anything to do with it or not. the truck is a 3 speed plus overdrive if that helps. thanks alot.

This might be caused by a few things. The idle speed may be set too high, perhaps there is a vacuum leak, or maybe the throttle cable is sticking.
