Question

Thanks for this opportunity to ask someone a car question!
I have a 1980 Datsun 4X4. There are two problems:
1--The clutch goes all the way to the floor without engaging
2--When you start the engine, you hear a clanging sound coming from the transmission/transaxle are.
Any help/advice would be great

thanks,

dave

Inspect clutch travel at the clutch fork. If travel at fork is within specification you are going to have to remove the transmission to inspect for a broken clutch disk or pressure plate. This may also be the cause of your clanging when starting. If clutch fork travel is not within specification, inspect for problems with clutch pedal, cable, and/or slave and master cylinders.
