Question

I and thanks in advance,I have a 96' Pontiac Sunfire w/15x6" alloys and 195/65R15 tires. I would like to upgrade the performance of my tires (I need new ones), but my options are very limited with my wheels. I do not have the cash to +size to a 16" wheel, but I still want to upgrade the performance. Buying 225/50R15 or 205/55R15 tires bring the total diameter down by 9/10th of an inch. The manufacturer's recommended rim width is 6-9", so I should be fine there as well as my fender width. I think that there is an acceptable percentage of diameter movement up or down, but I am not sure what it is? My problem is will this damage my engine or ECM?(computer)? Could it cause the engine to run lean, and is there a fix for this without running into big bucks (I might as well plus size)? What is my performance tire options without + sizing? Your response is appreciated.Christopher
