Question

I know, I know, you specialize in GM. This a Ford question. Still... What are the ill effects of using a 2.0L head on a 2.3L block? They WILL bolt up, but that don't make it right. Would this result in a higher compression ratio? The local good ol' boys shop did this to me, and the spark knock sounded like marbles in a blender. 93 octane pretty much cured that, but after driving this bastardized engine for ~500 miles, I've got a dead cylinder (busted piston or rings). COULD this have been the result of the mis-matched components?Thank you.John

The answer is yes. I would say that the initial repair performed on your Ford was poor.
