Question I have a 1990 dodge minivan with a 3.3 engine and a overdrive automatic transmission, The transmission won't upshift , It will shift ok for about a mile and then when it upshifts the engine runs up and the van slows down. What is causing this problem. What tests are needed . I changed the filter and checked the pan and found a small amount of friction material. and a small quantity of Irrin on the magnet in the trans pan.
